News for September 13th 2010

Ellen Maze says: As some of you know, I wrote a 4-part Christian vampire series from 2004 to 2008, and submitted it a half a dozen times over the years. I got plenty of rejections, but in 2009, some really good nibbles on it; requests to see more, to see a book proposal, etc. Now, after twenty edits and a few major character overhauls, "THE JUDGING The Corescu Chronicles Book One" found a taker in TreasureLine Books. Since this is a small house that uses POD technology, we should be seeing this book on the shelf before the end of the year. God bless you all and let's keep writing what the Lord puts in our hearts! LINK: http://www.ellencmaze.com/news-flash.php

You can also read a fascinating (funny!) interview and review with Ellen's characters at the New Authors Fellowship, thanks to Diane Graham:

But wait! Ellen's not done yet! She's running a contest to give away a copy of The Judging:

Fred Warren says: My short story, "Rubes," is online now at Reflection's Edge.
Everybody loves the circus, but McMurphy's Fantasmagorical Wonder Show has seen better days. Their train's broken down in a desolate stretch of Kansas prairie, they're not going to make their next show, and they're out of money. The fortunes of this second-rate traveling carnival are about to change. Things certainly couldn't get any worse, could they?

June 25: Fred in Audio, DDM Interview, MLP Update

This from Fred Warren:
My flash story, "The Time-Share," is online now at Wily Writers Speculative Fiction in text and podcast, and they did a very nice job with it in both formats.

Johne Cook has interviewed T.W. Ambrose, founder and editor of the Digital Dragon Magazine, at the AuthorCulture blog: http://authorculture.blogspot.com/2010/06/interview-with-digital-dragon-magazine.html

And this update from Jeff Gerke:

We have a change to our contest announced a few days ago -- there is no purchase necessary to enter the contest to have your name appear in one of our upcoming new novels.

Take time on the Fourth of July to stop by our store at
http://www.marcherlordpress.com/New_Store/Fiction.htm and buy any of our 12 great fiction titles to receive a free short story by author Steve Rzasa called "Hunting Souls." It takes place in the same universe as his space opera novels The Word Reclaimed and The Word Unleashed, and follows the exploits of an unlikely hero -- one of the secret police who track down Christians.

Then on July 5, MLP will make a random drawing from all the names of people who have registered for the Marcher Lord Press newsletter. Registration is free and may be done any time between now and the end of July 4, 2010 by clicking here. If you've already registered for the newsletter you don't have to take any action -- you will automatically be entered!  Three winners will have their names appear in upcoming MLP novels as previously advertised.

There's more information available at http://www.marcherlordpress.com/New_Store/SummerSale.html. So remember, go to http://www.marcherlordpress.com/New_Store/Fiction.htm on July 4, 2010 for our new fiction offer and make sure to register for our free newsletter by that date to enter the name contest. If you're already registered, tell your family and friends!

News for February 16th, 2010

After a quiet weekend, it's time to jump back into the fray with all your favourite LGG happenings!

An enterprising Englishwoman has made an independent spin-off movie as a companion to the legendary Lord of the Rings trilogy. LGG member Peter Grant explains the background at his blog, where you can also view the 70 minute movie in its entirety.

At the New Authors Fellowship, Keven Newsome comments on Paul Baines' unpublished novel Alpha, which deals with space travel and the ability of an artificial intelligence to discover God.

For writers: The Wordplay blog has an article about a fascinating approach to improving your writing by reviewing your own work. Check out this unusual idea right here.

And lastly today we have two new LGG member reviews for The Muse by Fred Warren: one by Kat Heckenbach, and one by Greg Mitchell. Thanks guys!

News from Digital Dragon Magazine

Digital Dragon Magazine is celebrating its first year!

T.W. Ambrose, Editor, says:

Fans, readers and contributors have most likely heard us (or seen us) talking about big things on the horizon. He have come to that point, and are pleased to announce The Year of the Dragon.

The editors here at Digital Dragon Magazine believe we have some of the best writers writing some of the best stories in the genre, and would like to help share them with the world with a Best-Of book for 2009. However with 7 issues, and around 50 short stories, articles, and poems, we would like (and, in fact, need) your input as to what to include.

Early in December, we started a page on the message board to give the writers and fans of Digital Dragon Magazine the chance to vote for some of their favorite stories. You can do so on the message board. You may also email your favorites directly at: digitaldragonmagazine@gmail.net

We hope you’ll take part in this once-in-a-lifetime event. Why "once in a lifetime?" Because, after all, Digital Dragon Magazine will only have one first year. This book will also be Diminished Media’s very first print publication.

Finally, as we look to the future of DDM, we hope to be able to use any profits made on the book to put towards paying our authors in the future.

So let me encourage you to hop on the message board or shoot us an email, and tell us what you have liked best about Digital Dragon Magazine 09 -- The Year of the Dragon.
