Podcasts and Classics

Scott M. Sandridge announces:
THE SILVERBLADE PROPHECY LAUNCHED AS PODCAST NOVEL

Columbus, OH – April 7, 2009, 2009 – Scott M. Sandridge launches a dark heroic fantasy story in podcast novel format: "The Silverblade Prophecy - Book I of The Messiahs War Trilogy." Mr. Sandridge first developed the overall story while writing short stories and selling them to "The Sword Review" and "Dragons, Knights, and Angels." He at first envisioned a collection of related but separate short stories, but as he worked on it, it began to morph into a complete novel and then a trilogy.

A blend of dark fantasy and heroic fantasy, Sandridge delivers a story epic in scope. Throughout Pankea's history, messiahs have come and gone, and many have failed. Marian Silverblade seeks to fulfill her prophetic birthright, but her fallen ancestor has other plans. She will need help from the most unlikely allies to succeed, but before they can help her fulfill the prophecy they must first learn to work together.

Of the short stories that were merged into the novel, "Tangent Online" reviewer, Nicole McClain, said, "…there is enough mayhem to keep things interesting." And Donna Watkins said, "Sandridge digs deep and gives the reader prose and plot worth chewing on." Locus Award-winning author, Paul Levinson ("The Silk Code" and "The Plot to Save Socrates") says of Mr. Sandridge, "Scott is a brilliant up-and-coming author...I expect great things from him." And ELFIE award-winning author Frank Creed ("Flashpoint") says, "Scott's reputation in the Christian speculative fiction market is iron-clad and passionate."

The podcast novel can be found at http://silverblade.mypodcast.com and at http://pankea.wordpress.com and can be downloaded onto your computer or iPod.

Weekend Reading Online

There's so much quality material online that it's hard to keep up with posting news about it! Here are the offerings of today's post.

Mindflights Magazine has posted new content:
Birds of a Feather by W. K. Tucker - Looking after his strange sister is no easy task for thirteen-year-old Henry. And it doesn't help matters any that his ma is crazy in the head.
Encounter, a poem by Elyn W. Marsh - I never would have expected him, but there he was...
Quanruzaman's Gateway by Peter Simon - A long overdue, unexpected but happy appointment.

We are also excited to bring you The Ballad of Scabbard Pete by LGG forum participant Tony Lavoie. This is a supernatural pirate story posted in chapters, or rather, stanzas.

Also appearing in regular episodes is Archangel, a series of novels by Scott Roche from the LGG forum. It's a podcast, an audiobook of the supernatural thriller type. Who needs TV any more?

Audiobooks: a new kind of reading

Today we'll be highlighting some sites where you can listen to stories online. Have fun!

Bill McGrath says: The first chapter of the audio version of my fantasy novel Asulon is
now on YouTube. I've divided the 27 minute chapter into seven segments so they will be easy to download. Each segment is paired with a different illustration from the novel. The audio is done by veteran British actor James Brinkley.

You'll find the first segment of Asulon here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNS69i_VncM&feature=related
The other parts can be found in the Related Videos list on that page.

Also check out The Spirit Blade Underground Podcast - A weekly 30 minute podcast including reviews and conversation about comics, sci-fi and fantasy in all their incarnations, along with a "non-churchy" but truth-centered Bible study.

Don't miss out on a listen to Chion by Irish author Darryl Sloan. It's worth it just for the accent :) And once you're finished with the section available on audio, you can download the e-book free to read the rest. Trust me - you'll want to!

And going back a year or two, but just as hot as ever: the Light at the Edge of Darkness podcast featuring ten short stories by Lost Genre Guild authors as recorded by Adam and Andrea Graham. Just click the Download button for each story.

Chairman: Podcast

What if computer scientists succeeded at the Mary Shelley Frankenstein task, and produced a true artificial intelligence? What if their AI had only been allowed to logically consider its place in the Universe according to the material perspective. That's the premise of Frank Creed's Chairman. We attempted a normal podcast, but egads! The recording ended up a disaster, so I pulled a rabbit out of my hat and came up with a good solo reading of the story!

Click here or in the sidebar to listen. You can also add future editions of this podcast to your Itunes so you don't miss a thing. Don't forget to purchase the book that has all these stories in them.
